Agricultural Marketing Clerk (Summer Intern Program)
The position is located in the Standards Division of the National Organic Program (NOP). The NOP carries out a myriad of activities relating to developing, implementing, and enforcing organic agriculture standards. One key Standards Division activity is managing the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances, which identifies substances that may and may not be used in organic production and handling. The incumbent serves as an Agricultural Marketing Clerk, responsible for working with the Division's National List Coordinator to assist in National List management and tracking. Activities include: Working with the National List Coordinator to populate the National List Database, run reports and queries, and troubleshoot data entry issues; assist in developing systems for managing National List records and historical documents; assists in National List petition reviews, including data entry, assessing petitions for completeness, and notifications of missing information. The position is located in the Office of the Deputy Administrator, National Organic Program (NOP). The NOP carries out a myriad of activities relating to the development, implementation, and enforcement of the NOP in accordance with the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 (OFPA) and the organic regulations. The incumbent serves as an Agricultural Marketing Specialist working on specialized projects related to standards development, complaint investigations, and/or other analytical assignments concerning the development and execution of NOP policies, procedures, and methodologies.
